I agree - that stretch of the Manuel Peak Trail could really use some 
help. I've worked on it lightly over the years, but have always shyed 
away from really blasting it open through Launtz for fear that it would 
open a flood-gate of boy scouts from Pico Blanco Boy Scout Camp into 
what is now a very quiet and serene place with plenty of solitude, 
albeit a small struggle to get to. I've heard stories about Launtz and 
Vado getting very heavy use by scout troops years ago when the trail was 
in good shape.

And I kind of wonder why the scouts aren't doing more trailwork in that 
area. You'd think it would be something they'd be all over.
